Well, luckily for Diana (and me!), I did purchase all of the GOML's (Girls of Many Lands) before they retired, including Kathleen. They were delivered and have just been sitting in their boxes in the original shipping box. I had looked at them briefly (we're talking almost two years ago!)
So I decided to unpack them and wrap them separately for our move. I also bought 3 of the display shelves (and risers) when they went on sale for only $8! What a bargain that was!
Well, I just gotta tell you, even you newbies to AG, if you ever get a chance to buy these on ebay, by all means do so! They really are stunning. I don't even think I have a favorite, they are so unique in their own way. I think I'll start reading the books as well, just to get to know them a little better.
I think in our new house I'll display them in Diana's bedroom. But here's my thought: I want to mount square glass mirror tiles on the wall behind the shelf so that the dolls backs will be reflected as well. I also think I'll only put 4 dolls on each shelf since they get kind of crowded looking with all the risers. So we'll have 2 shelves with the GOML's, and I'll use my 3rd shelf for her Madame Alexander Russian dolls with the same mirrored background.
Hmmm...just counted those, I'm already running out of shelves and may have to use the risers after all. We have 7 Russian MA's, 2 Russian Barbies, 1 doll from Moscow, and 2 from her native Kalmykia.
Oh, the challenges....but really just wanted to comment on how gorgeous the GOML dolls really are!
